Russian antitrust says holds no amicable talks with Google
MOSCOW, Oct 18 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service is not discussing an amicable agreement with Google, which it earlier found guilty and fined for abuse of the dominant position on the market of preinstalled application stores, Director Igor Artemyev said Tuesday.
“No talks are under way,” Artemyev said.
The agreement was theoretically possible, he said in September, though hardly achievable.
The antitrust service earlier ordered Google to revise contracts with device manufacturers, because the U.S. company used to force producers to install application store Google Play in a tie-up with other programs of the company.
The service fined Google 438 million rubles, and the deadline for the payment expired in August. The company can face another fine of up to 500,000 rubles for disrespect of the order.
